The Business Case

Aquaculture is the most sustainable source of animal nutrients in the world and as the world needs to double it’s annual food production in the coming years within our planetary boundaries this young farming sector has already seen  unprecedented growth. In 2009 IDH and WWF created the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), a certification scheme to support that this business steep growth follows the path of sustainable development of the sector. In the period 2010-2015 I had the privilege to be member of the Board of the ASC including 2 years as Chair and could witness the phenomenal market share and business impact that this standard has created over the years.
