Private sector interventions to make supply chains more sustainable have grown dramatically over the past two decades. Certification has become a widely used tool for driving sustainable practices in a multitude of sectors.

Aquaculture is the most sustainable source of animal nutrients in the world and as the world needs to double it’s annual food production in the coming years within our planetary boundaries this young farming sector has already seen  unprecedented growth.

The Netherlands has a long track record to lead the highest adoption of certified tropical timber in the world. Growing evidence demonstrates  that in the many tropical countries with weak or failing governmental forest protection FSC certification is by far the best way to protect the forest. Why? 

Many will remember the dramatic collapse of the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh. Unsafe buildings and working conditions are the daily reality for millions of workers in apparel also outside Bangladesh. From 2016 onwards I had the privilege to lead a strong team in creating the Life And Building Safety Initiative.
